Everyone wants to win the first edition of the Conference Europa League. The first quarter-final matches are being played today, which may give a hint as to who will be close to winning the trophy.

In the opening match between Feyenoord and Slavia, the home team is the favourite, not least because of the autumn clash, which they won thanks to an excellent 2-1 start.

But if Slavia can get a playable result, a sold-out Eden will cheer them on in the rematch. What did coach Jindřich Trpišovský say about the opponent before the match?

“We are very motivated to take on our opponents. We know how strong the opponent is, I can see how conscientiously the boys are preparing. Of course, they always do that, but now you can see how much they concentrate on every detail, because we know how the first game here in Rotterdam went,” he said.

The quarter-finals are the Czech maximum in European competitions. It has happened nine times, most recently with Slavia playing at this stage, falling to Chelsea and Arsenal.

Now, however, there will not be a huge number of players available and the bench will be full of youngsters waiting for their chance to shine and prove themselves to Europe.

“It must be great for them. I was thinking that if someone took me to Rotterdam at 16 or 17, it would have to be great. We are happy that we feel some of them can help us in that game. We’ll probably be forced by circumstances to do something like that,” he added.
