Czech Republic won the European Championship in a dress rehearsal against Albania 3:1. Patrik Schick scored a historically important goal. What is this milestone? And how is the public reacting to the Czech victory before the Euros?
The first goal of the match was scored by striker Patrik Schick after a centre by Lukáš Masopust! His goal is the 1500th goal scored by the Czech national football team and has thus entered the historical charts!
The Sparta Prague graduate joined the legends of Czech football. The first goal scorer in the rich history of Czech football was Jindřich Valášek at the beginning of the last decade.
115 years later, the Czech team has 1,502 goals after the match against Albania. Let’s hope that their number will grow at the upcoming EURU.
Public reaction to the Albania dress rehearsal
Jan Podroužek clearly defended Lukáš Masopust, who was a key player in the match against Albania, and shut up all the doubters.
“The performance of the national team was far from perfect. What will we think, but for the start of the championship it was definitely a valuable victory in terms of mental well-being. Masopust was vocal about the basics, but who will be in goal is a mystery. Neither of them is in great shape,” wrote Pavel Jahoda, editor of CT Sport.
“A win before the Euros will please, boost confidence, improve the atmosphere. In terms of playing quality, better than in Italy, on the other hand, still no hit parade, the team will stay on the ground, it is not to the detriment of the cause. At full strength and game aggressiveness it will be a different song at the Euro, let’s believe. Good luck!” commented Luděk Mádl on Twitter.
The national team is in a winning mood and off to the EURO! The opening match against Scotland will be extremely important and perhaps even emotionally tense.
