The court will decide who “contributed” to Maradona’s death. His doctor denies any culpability

Diego Madarona, a legend of Argentine football, died unexpectedly last November. Months later, it was discovered that this was also due to the lack of care by one of his doctors.
Several people, mostly from a medical background, have been linked to the death of legendary technician Diego Maradona. And why? Because a 20-member medical board concluded a month ago that Maradona did not receive maximum care before his death.
The guilt of Maradona’s personal physician, Leopoldo Luque, is denied by his lawyer, Julio Rivas. He said he was always close to Maradona when he needed him and was a friend.
“He did nothing for which he should feel guilty. He was a family doctor. He was not responsible for home care. He always looked after Maradona’s health and every time he was called, he went and helped him.”
Rivas then added that after his brain surgery in November (just days before his death), two care companies were responsible for Maradona. Luque was present at the operation, or rather performed it himself as a neurosurgeon.
The other accusers think otherwise. Most of them said in interrogations that the responsibility lies with Luque and the psychiatrist Agustina Cosach, who is another suspect.
In the coming days, the court will decide whose side is to blame. The defendant faces a prison sentence of between eight and twenty-five years.
