One category has already been decided, the women’s doubles. In the final, the Ukrainian-Latvian duo of Lyudmila Kichenokova – Jelena Ostapenko won the doubles title, defeating the American of Czech origin Nicole Melicharova-Martinez and the Australian Ellen Perez.
At 6pm, the men’s doubles climax will begin with the world number one and number two doubles players Joe Salisbury of Great Britain and Rajeev Ram of the USA. The pair will take on Germany’s Tim Pütz and New Zealander Michael Venus.
Then comes the most interesting point of the final programme for Czech fans. Petra Kvitová will fight for her 30th career title on the WTA circuit. She will face Caroline Garcia, who defeated Belarusian Sabalenka in a semi-final match interrupted by rain.
The Czech Keys is currently ranked 28th in the world, the Frenchwoman 35th. So we can expect an even battle for the women’s singles championship. The match is scheduled to start at 8 p.m.
The action in Cincinnati will be concluded at around 10.30 pm by the men’s singles final, which ATP ranking leader Daniil Medvedev failed to advance to after a three-set semi-final loss to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
The world No. 7 from Greece will face Croatia’s Borna Ćorić, who has steadily fallen through the rankings due to a one-year layoff caused by a shoulder injury he had surgery on in May 2021. The current No. 152 player made his way into the title fight thanks to victorious matches against Musetti, Nadal, Bautista-Agut, Auger-Aliassime and Norrie.
