Petr Čech is a true football gentleman, which he confirms all the time. Now he is receiving words of praise from Wolves striker Raúl Jiménez. He had a moment of terror when his skull fractured in a game last season.
Although Wolverhampton lost 0-1 to Leicester at the start of the Premier League, Wolves fans had something to celebrate. After 9 months, Raúl Jiménez, the team’s biggest attacking star, made his competitive debut.
In November 2020, he collided with David Luiz during a match against Arsenal and the first forecasts were fatal.
“The doctors told me it was a miracle that I survived. I had a fractured skull that was pressing on my brain and causing bleeding, which is why they operated so quickly. They did a really good job, ” Raúl Jiménez told Football Daily.
The long recovery took a lot of strength, especially mental. But the Mexican striker had someone he could rely on. Petr Cech suffered a skull fracture himself in 2006, and finished the rest of his career with a helmet on his head. So he knew exactly what Jiménez was going through.
“I was in contact with Petr, he wrote to me. Whenever I needed or wanted something, he was there for me. He came to the hotel with the doctor and took the helmet with him to see if we could do something similar for me. It’s nice to see that people are there for you, even though you don’t really know each other,” Jiménez said.
The Czech also received a lot of praise from fans in the comments. Several fans called the former Czech goalkeeper a legend, while others expressed great respect for him.
“Is there any footballer who is both a great person and an excellent footballer? I’ve never seen an athlete whose image off the pitch is as pure as Čech’s,” a fan complimented the Pilsen native.
