Manchester City vs. Real Madrid
Manchester City have so far taken on Sporting and Atlético Madrid in the knockout rounds. In the semi-finals, they scored 5 goals against Sporting in the first leg, while the second leg ended 0:0. In the quarter-finals, the Citizens had a tough battle with Atletico, whom they knocked out after 1: 0 and 0: 0 results.
The quarter-final against the Spaniards was very difficult for the Citizens. Atlético decided to defend for most of the match, and even started without a striker in the first game. In the second game, there were several scrums as Atleti took the elimination hard.
Real Madrid matches are very exciting. They faced PSG of France in the eighth round. They lost the first match 0:1, but managed to win the second match 3:1. Karim Benzema scored a hat-trick for the Parisians.
In the quarter-finals they faced Chelsea, whom they beat 3-1 in the first leg. The second leg also ended 3-1 after ninety minutes, but this time from Chelsea’s point of view, and so it went into extra time. Karim Benzema scored again to send Real into the semi-finals.
The clash between Manchester City and Real Madrid will offer a very entertaining double-header, with both teams looking to play attacking football. We don’t have to worry about one of these teams coming out with a tactic of defending the whole game.
Liverpool vs. Villarreal
Liverpool knocked out Inter Milan in the semi-finals after 2: 0 and 0: 1 results. In the quarter-finals, they took on Benfica, winning the first leg 3-1 and drawing the second leg 3-3.
Villarreal’s journey through the knockout stages of the Champions League is very interesting. In the table, this team finished in second place one point behind Manchester United, but they were eliminated in the eighth round, while Villarreal is now already in the semi-finals.
The yellow submarine faced Juventus in the first knockout round, with whom they drew the first match 1-1. In the second leg, however, they were swept away 3-0. In the quarter-finals they knocked out the other favourite to win the trophy, Bayern Munich, after 1:0 and 1:1 matches.
Liverpool are the favourites in the semi-finals, but the Spanish side have already managed to knock out two strong teams when they were the underdogs. They will fight for another fantastic result again. The whole football world is looking forward to this match, the fans especially want another great performance from the Yellow Submarine.
