Things seem to be quite heated in the London team lately. After their FA Cup exit, when they fell short against a second-tier side, they have to come to terms with finishing in the Champions League.
The Roosters have thus definitively closed the door on any hopes of winning the trophy they have been waiting for for 15 years. At the moment, the Italian coach’s charges can only focus on securing their participation in the Champions League next season.
The Champions League in particular is not one of Antonio Conte’s favourite competitions. In his coaching career, he has sat on the bench on forty-one occasions. In those, he has only won fifteen times and the furthest he has been able to go is the quarter-finals.
It is interesting that such a successful coach, who has coached clubs such as Juventus, Inter Milan and Chelsea during his rich career and won many trophies, has never reached at least the semi-finals of this competition.
The question is which club Conte will have the chance to break this unflattering record. His future in north London is more than unclear and there is very loud talk of a summer and maybe even an earlier departure.
The experienced coach has a contract at Tottenham until the end of the current season with an option for a one-year extension but there is no indication that this collaboration will continue.
The coach himself is already looking slightly resigned and seems to be waiting for the end of the current season. According to various media reports, he could return to his native Italy and take a seat on the AC Milan bench.
