What has been speculated in recent weeks has finally become a reality. Jordan Henderson is transferring from Liverpool to Saudi Arabia, to Al Ettifaq.

The club playing in the Saudi Pro League is expected to send around £13 million to England, with the now former Reds captain expected to earn more than £700,000 a week. It should be added, Liverpool officially confirmed his departure on their club website.

It should be noted, at Al Ettifaq, Henderson will be reunited with someone he just got very well from Liverpool. Indeed, the Saudi Arabian outfit are coached by Steven Gerrard, who signed a three-year contract there this month.

In any case, before the thirty-three-year-old footballer decided to leave Liverpool, he discussed his position in the squad with Jürgen Klopp. It was only on the basis of this that he finally announced his decision to move elsewhere.

The fact is that the 2019/20 Premier League champion is currently undergoing a rebuilding process. Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai have joined the team, and the Reds continue to have great interest in Romeo Lavia. On the other hand, in terms of departures, Henderson has joined Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Naby Keita, while Thiago Alcantara is also likely to leave Anfield Road.

“It’s hard to put the last 12 years into words and even harder to say goodbye through them. I will always be a Red. Until the day I die. Thank you,” Henderson wrote on his Instagram, of course, with the familiar addition of “You’ll never walk alone”, translated as “you’ll never walk alone.”

Henderson in Liverpool…

The now former Liverpool captain moved to Anfield Road in July 2011, from Sunderland for €18 million. Since then he has made 492 competitive starts for the English club, scoring 33 goals and 61 assists.

With Liverpool, he won the Championship title, the Champions League trophy, the UEFA Super Cup, the Club World Cup, the FA Cup and twice the English League Cup.
