Kylian Mbappé will not extend his current contract at PSG, that has been clear and a given for some time now. So the French capital city side have two options. Either sell Mbappé this summer or let him go for free next year. And based on the latest information, it is reportedly clear which option PSG will choose.
Mbappé is currently under contract in Paris until the end of June next year. However, he recently announced that he will not extend his current contract at the club in the French capital and would become a free agent in the summer of 2024.
For PSG, this means that they would have to let the French international go for free next year or cash him in this year.
And according to the latest speculation, it quite understandably looks like option number 2. It’s no secret that Real Madrid have long been interested in Mbappé’s services, as he could create an attack that will rock European football for years to come.
It should be added that a lot has been written in the past regarding the 24-year-old superstar’s potential transfer to Real.
However, Mbappé’s departure from PSG has been confirmed by the French respected daily L’Equipe, and now the quite credible PSG Community twitter account has come up with more information.
Based on these reports, Real have already tentatively agreed with PSG on the transfer of Mbappé worth an astronomical €250 million.
The most expensive player on the planet
Somewhat more specifically, the transfer sum is to be split into 200 million, plus that 50 million is included in the total in bonuses. Mbappé would thus become the most expensive player on the planet.
That was until now Neymar, who just transferred from Barcelona to PSG in 2017, for 222 million euros. Mbappé came to Paris in 2018 from Monaco, when the then French giant paid 180 million euros for him.
During that time, he played 260 competitive matches in a PSG jersey, in which he scored 212 goals and added 98 assists.
