The best tennis players in the world, at least according to the ATP rankings, are taxed. For this season, anyway. Which players do fans think will dominate the ATP tour this year? Who, on the other hand, do fans surprisingly not trust?

The best tennis players of 2023

No one will change the ranking of the most successful players in the year ending. Novak Djokovic has accumulated the most success. He was followed by Carlos Alcaraz, Danil Medvedev and Jannik Sinner.

It is very interesting to see who the fans of the white sport expect to be in the top positions in exactly one year’s time. It is definitely worth noting which players the tennis public doesn’t trust too much.

Confidence in Djokovic

One fact is clear from the reactions of tennis fans. Confidence in Djokovic and his continued dominance is huge.

The thirty-six-year-old king of the ATP rankings will not surprise by continuing his reign even as a thirty-seven-year-old. After all, no Grand Slam final has been without him this year, and he has found an opponent only once.

Let us recall that Wimbledon this year fell prey to the Spaniard Alcaraz. He won it after an amazing battle when he defeated Djokovic in five sets.

Sinner and Alcaraz

If a preference other than the Serbian tennis player is voiced, it is most often the name of Alcaraz or Italian Sinner. There are quite strong arguments for both of these players.

Alcaraz may have gone through a slump in form, but his attack can be expected to come. At least on clay, where he showed an incredible run last year.

Sinner, on the other hand, documented his potential best at the end of the year. At the Tournament of Champions, he was able to take on Djokovic. Although not in the final. His triumph over the Serb in the Davis Cup was a big win.

The view of expert Patrick Mouratoglou is very much in line with the fans’ estimation. In his analysis, he acknowledges the strength of Sinner and Alcaraz, but he too foresees the continued dominance of Djokovic.

The others lag behind

The best tennis players of 2024 are therefore expected to be Djokovic with Sinner and Alcaraz. Few fans trust the world number three, Russia’s Medvedev.

He has done great things this year. He managed to succeed on his unpopular clay court and played the final of the US Open. But he didn’t win a single set there. His conqueror was, of course, Djokovic.

Finally, it’s worth remembering one more name. Although he is now practically out of the ATP rankings, he is trusted by more tennis fans than the rest of the field.

The king of clay is back and in just a few days we can look forward to Rafael Nadal’s return to the ATP tournament circuit. Will he really join the ranks of the best?
