The best in history? Carlo Ancelotti could reach a historic milestone with Real
If Real Madrid win the league title this season, Carlo Ancelotti will enter the ranks of the greatest coaching aces. Perhaps he will become the greatest. What success can the Italian strategist achieve?
If Real Madrid win the league title this season, Carlo Ancelotti will enter the ranks of the greatest coaching aces. Perhaps he will become the greatest. What success can the Italian strategist achieve?
Real Madrid boasts a solid lead at the top of the Spanish top flight. Los Blancos are on the verge of their 35th league title, which will put Ancelotti in the annals of football.
The 66-year-old Italian has racked up success in each of Europe’s top leagues. Mostly, he celebrated the end of the season by winning a trophy. But the league title from La Liga was all he needed for now. That could change in two months.
He won the league title with AC Milan in the 2003/04 season and secured the league title for Chelsea in 2010. Two years later, thanks to Ancelotti, they enjoyed the title at the Parc des Princes. The last time the highly experienced strategist enjoyed a league title was during his engagement with Bayern Munich.
Although Ancelotti was at the Santiago Bernabeu from 2013 to 2015, he failed to win the league title.
However, during his second stint with Los Blancos, this situation is unlikely to repeat itself. Ancelotti will thus make history.
He will be the first manager in history to win a league title in each of the top 5 European leagues. Both Pep Guardiola (La Liga, Bundesliga, Premier League) and Jose Mourinho (Premier League, Serie A, La Liga) are far from this milestone.
