The best centre-back in the world? Real Madrid have a great luxury with the arrival of Tchouaméni

The centre of midfield has always been a great dominating feature of Real Madrid. Zidane, Guti, Beckham or Kaká, in the new era Casemiro – Kroos – Modric have dominated the world. And in addition to these three legends, the White Ballet has already prepared three hungry wolfmen who will gradually replace them.

When Real Madrid dominated the world in 2016-2018 and dominated the Champions League three times in a row, it was of course largely thanks to Cristiano Ronaldo. It’s just that he wouldn’t have scored as many goals if he didn’t have such service.

The midfield of Casemiro – Kroos – Modric and often Isco allowed Real to control every game and create countless chances.

However, time cannot be stopped and the years have already passed for all three of them (30, 32, 36). Thus, voices have started to emerge that Real’s generation is getting older and a big renewal will be needed. However, the royal club has already prepared for it in advance.

Federico Valverde, 23, is already in his fourth season in the starting line-up and Carlo Ancelotti has rebuilt his favourite 4-3-3 formation for him.

Last summer, Eduardo Camavinga arrived for just €35 million, which is proving to be one of the transfers of the season. The 19-year-old is proving his immense talent especially in the last part of the spring and has helped Real turn around games against PSG, Chelsea and Manchester City with his energy. Moreover, every time he came on, he absolutely dominated in the centre of midfield.

The arrival of Tchouaméni

And the final piece to the puzzle is on its way from Monaco. This is because, according to all credible sources, Real Madrid are completing the transfer of Aurélien Tchouaméni, paying €80 million for the 22-year-old Frenchman, and that’s without even having a certain place in the starting line-up. That’s how much talent he has, as evidenced by the interest of Liverpool and PSG.

Real Madrid will thus have two versions of the centre-back for next season. A more experienced and technical option (CKM) and a younger, more aggressive and faster version (Tchouaméni, Camavinga, Valverde).

No team in the world can match the depth of the midfield and probably the quality. And best of all, almost all of the players Real Madrid brought in pretty cheap, Tchouaméni being an honorable exception.

In fact Casemiro came for €5m, Kroos for €25m and Modric and Camavinga for €35m. Valverde moved to Real Madrid’s youth from Uruguay’s Peñarol for 4 million euros.
