The agreement was that West Ham would not exercise the option and there would be a new contract. But the proposal is unacceptable, Coufal explains his anger

A few weeks ago, there was quite a lot of hype about it. Vladimír Coufal and his agent Karol Kisel showed their dissatisfaction with the proposal of a new contract from West Ham, who only followed the option that he had on paper.

Vladimir Coufal wanted to join West Ham at any cost. In his confession to server Bez frází he later admitted that he would have played in England for free. And when Slavia didn’t want to let him go, he would have preferred to walk to London.

However, in four seasons in a Hammers jersey he has already earned a certain position and name from which he is not willing to retreat. It has to be said that apart from one brief episode last season, he has never dropped out of the starting line-up.

So he expected that when his current contract expires, his performance and position in the team will be reflected financially in the new one. But that didn’t happen, the offer was far below Coufal’s expectations.

But the problem was that Coufal and Kisel had agreed to this option when signing the first one. So West Ham decided to exercise their right under the contract signed by all parties.

Why is Coufal unhappy?

So the fans teased Coufal and Kisel’s agent that he couldn’t read the contract and didn’t even know what he was signing. Now, however, the national defender has cleared up the then situation and the anger at West Ham management.

“The club exercised the option. But we were promised, or not promised, there was an agreement that the option would not be exercised. And a new contract would be signed. In the end they exercised it and now we are somehow talking about a new contract,” Coufal explained in an interview with CANAL+ Sport.

“I have received a proposal that is unacceptable for me, but also for everyone. We’ll see what happens next. For now I have a one-year contract from the summer, so we’ll see what comes in the summer. The priority is to stay at West Ham. My family and I are happy here, I’ve got used to the club…,” Coufal added.
