That’s for Belgium! Lewis Hamilton plans to do something special for the fans
Compensation for the fans? It’s likely. Lewis Hamilton was not at all happy about the situation at the last race at Spa-Francorchamps. Here’s how the fans are going to show their support for him at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Compensation for the fans? It’s likely. Lewis Hamilton was not at all happy about the situation at the last race at Spa-Francorchamps. Here’s how the fans are going to show their support for him at the Belgian Grand Prix.
Lewis Hamilton, but also Fernando Alonso, for example, criticised the events surrounding the race in Belgium. And Hamilton in particular felt sorry for the fans in the stands who came to support their favourites.
Instead, they were soaked to the bone. The Belgian Grand Prix organiser and F1 are currently working out how to compensate the fans for this race.
Hamilton seems to have a clear idea, although it is still not disclosed what the gift or service will be. Either way, it will be given to whoever shows a valid ticket to the race. The form, which can be found on Instagram, is supposed to be used for this purpose.
The seven-time world champion also provided his commentary on the events surrounding the Belgian Grand Prix. “It was a farce today and the only ones who lost out are the fans who paid good money to watch us race,” Hamilton said.
He also added: “We were sent out for one reason. Two laps behind the safety car when you can’t gain or lose a place or provide entertainment for the fans is not racing. We should have just packed it in, not risked the drivers and most importantly given money back to the fans who are the heart of our sport.”
Whether you like Hamilton or not, one thing has to give – he cares about the fans, especially his own.
