That’s a hefty sum! Mick Schumacher’s Monaco crash costs Haas a pile of money

You could perhaps say that the American Haas F1 Team has had a run of bad luck this year. A lot of bad luck. Firstly, due to the Russian-Ukrainian conflict, the team has terminated its cooperation with sponsor Uralkali and father and son Mazepin.
Although this Russian partner only accounted for 20% of the budget, it was still a big blow for Haas, who is struggling to find sponsors and money. In part, the American team managed to compensate for this by engaging Kevin Magnussen, who brought a package of sorts with him.
However, even in this case it was not a substantial amount. But this Danish pilot not only contributes financially, but also manages to get relatively decent results. He is currently in a solid tenth place in the drivers’ championship with 15 points, while Schumacher has not contributed a single point so far.
The closest Schumacher has come to points this year was on the occasion of the Miami Grand Prix. It was here that he was in the points, only to collide with Sebastian Vettel on the first corner of lap 54 and eventually finish the race some 73 seconds behind the winner. He crossed the finish line last.
Generally speaking, in Formula 1, the bottom line is this: If a driver doesn’t score points on a regular basis, he can at least provide valuable data for the team and – most importantly – try to avoid major collisions.
Yes, Haas has gotten some data from Schumacher so far in terms of developing and improving the monopod, but as far as crashes are concerned, the son of the famous legend does not appear in the best light.
The American team has not yet recovered from the huge crash that Schumacher suffered in Saudi Arabia as a result of a driving error, which cost Haas about one million dollars, and the German driver has “taken care” of another big problem.
In this accident, Schumacher was also subjected to a 33g overload. Having already crashed in Saturday’s qualifying, the 23-year-old missed Sunday’s Grand Prix. He therefore did not start the race at the circuit in Jeddah.
And you can see his big crash in Monaco in the attached Twitter post below. It should be noted, Haas will be costing Schumacher a lot of money. And although the team hasn’t officially confirmed anything yet, the damage to his monopost is so extensive that the amount of money, not just for repairs, will once again surpass the one million mark.
Schumacher completely demolished the gearbox, at least part of the fuel system and the power unit itself took a huge hit in Monaco.
Fortunately, Schumacher escaped both accidents without serious injury.
“I feel fine, but the whole thing is very unpleasant. We have the pace we need, but it’s also about maintaining it. Unfortunately, I went too wide into turn 15 and lost all grip and that ‘s what happened,” Schumacher told the team website.
