That was not the intention! Napoli responds to Victor Osimhen’s complaints about the TikTok video

Napoli released an official statement on Thursday evening about Victor Osimhen, whose person has been linked to a minor scandal in recent days regarding a video on TikTok. This was issued by the club itself when the Nigerian forward failed to convert a penalty against Bologna.
Napoli only drew 0: 0 in Sunday’s match of the fifth round of Serie A at the field of Bologna. However, apart from the result, the main topic of discussion after the match was the video released by Napoli’s official account on the TikTok social network.
What exactly happened? We have already reported in more detail on this topic in a previous article. However, in short: Victor Osimhen begged for a penalty kick from the referee in the 72nd minute when home defender Riccardo Calafiori played his hand in the big whitewash.
Referee Giovanni Ayroldi subsequently ruled it an infringement and awarded a penalty to Napoli. It was Osimhen who set up the ball for the penalty spot, but he sent his shot just wide of the right post.
And it was this situation that came to an end after the match. Napoli’s official TikTok account posted a video documenting the whole situation and mocking the unsuccessful shooter, according to Roberto Calenda.
The agent of the Nigerian star striker then threatened Napoli with legal action, whereupon on Thursday evening the Italian outfit issued an official statement explaining the matter. However, Napoli has not apologised to Osimhen.
Official statement from Naples
“Calcio Napoli, in an effort to avoid any misuse of this matter, stresses that we never intended to insult or ridicule Victor Osimhen, who is a treasure of this club. To prove this, the club has firmly rejected all offers made to him during the summer transfer period,” reads the official Napoli statement.
“Social media, especially TikTok, has always used an expressive form of language with a light heart and creativity, without, as in the case of Osimhen as protagonist, having any intention to insult or ridicule,” the Italian outfit wrote.
“In any case, if Victor perceived any insult to his address, it was not the intention of the club,” Naples concludes.
