Manchester United footballers had an important match on Saturday in the fight for the Champions League places for next season. The Red Devils managed to win the game 1: 0, with Casemiro scoring the winning goal.

The English Premier League offered a total of six matches in its Saturday programme, one of which was the clash between Bournemouth and Manchester United.

The home side are already assured of participation in the top English competition for next season, while the visitors still had something to play for.

The Red Devils want to qualify for the Champions League next season, so a win at Bournemouth would be more than welcome. Coach Erik ten Hag’s charges have fulfilled this obligation.

Casemiro’s brilliant goal

Brazilian Casemiro scored the winning goal in the ninth minute. He made a wonderful save in close proximity to the home goal, with a key centre and an assist from Christian Eriksen. You can watch the full moment below.

In the 28th minute, Dominic Solanke created the first major opportunity to level the score, but David de Gea deflected his shot.

Casemiro, however, had another great chance before the end of the first half. But he couldn’t beat the Neta goalkeeper with a shot from mid-range. The fans at Vitality Stadium didn’t see a goal in injury time either, Solanke again failed to beat the Manchester goalkeeper in the final stages.

The visitors were much more dangerous in the second act, producing a total of eleven shots in the second half alone. Neither Bruno Fernandes nor Wout Weghorst, for example, could beat the Bournemouth goalkeeper.

So the fans didn’t see any more goals in the rest of the match. After the loss to the famous English side, the home side remains in fourteenth place in the Premier League table with 39 points, while the Red Devils recorded an important victory.

Manchester United are currently fourth with 69 points and have a three-point lead over fifth-placed Liverpool, who only drew at home to Aston Villa. And they have one more game to play. Ten Hag and his charges have the Champions League on their hands.
