A truly grandiose qualifying session for Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix is behind us, with some surprising results, and a crash.

The first part of qualifying for the Monaco Grand Prix has already produced some surprising results. Apart from Mick Schumacher, who crashed massively in the third practice session and did not qualify, his teammate Nikita Mazepin also failed to qualify. The Haas monoblocs are once again at the very top of the results list.

Nicholas Latifi will start Sunday’s race eighteenth in a Williams. The big surprise is the seventeenth position of Fernando Alonso, who was unable to qualify enough to advance to Q2. Also disappointed is Yuki Tsunoda, who will start 16th.

The second part of qualifying is, as we already know, ruthless, and this was confirmed here in Monaco. George Russell and his Williams failed to qualify for the final session and will start Sunday’s race from fifteenth.

Ahead of Russell at number fourteen is Finnish legend Kimi Räikkönen in the Alfa Romeo. Lance Stroll in the Aston Martin also failed to qualify for Q3, with Daniel Ricciardo looking very disappointed after Q2. The Australian in his McLaren once again failed to qualify for Q3 and will start twelfth on his favourite track.

Eleventh position at the start belongs to Esteban Ocon in the Alpine F1 car. We have seen some surprising results, especially after the final part of qualifying. Tenth will be the start for Sunday’s race for Antonio Giovinazzi in the Alfa Romeo, who knocked Ricciardo out of the top 10 in Q2.

Ninth will be the start of Sergio Pérez, who, as the second Red Bull driver, failed to set a fast enough time for a better position. Position number 8 belongs to Sebastian Vettel, who has delivered a very experienced performance in Monaco so far.

However, Lewis Hamilton will go into tomorrow’s Grand Prix as high as seventh. Mercedes is the number 3 team in the Principality of Monaco. Ahead of Hamilton, Pierre Gasly will take the start. The talented Frenchman saves the performance and the position of the Alpha Tauri team.

Fifth on the grid will be Lando Norris, who was the only McLaren representative in Q3. His former teammate Carlos Sainz in the Ferrari monoposto will start fourth behind Finnish driver Valtteri Bottas and second placed Max Verstappen.

Pole position was awarded to the home driver, Monaco’s Charles Leclerc. At least according to the results sheet, Leclerc crashed at the very end of qualifying, bringing an early end to this Saturday’s action.

It will now be necessary to monitor further developments, because if the Ferrari driver has damaged, for example, his gearbox, he will be penalised at least five positions at the start due to the replacement of parts.

Sunday’s Monaco Grand Prix starts at 15:00 and as mentioned in the post-qualifying interview – anything can happen in Monte Carlo!
