Sparta managed to win their match against České Budějovice, while Slavia had to decide their progress in extra time. It has to be said, the match was really intense. The assistant coach of the Prague team Jaroslav Köstl even called it an advertisement for football.
The Kangaroos entered the semi-final match with Slavia Prague very actively and already in the 12th minute of the match Erik Prekop created a solid scoring opportunity. However, he did not get the goal
In the 14th minute Prekop opened the scoring and sent Bohemians into the lead. He got through with a shot from the right side and sent the ball unstoppably to the left post.
David Douděra brought the equaliser in the 23rd minute. It was to him that Ivan Schranz, after a sharp centre, directed the ball and from a volley in the area in front of the goal he sent the ball into the net.
Jindřich Trpišovský’s charges then gradually tightened the screws in the rest of the first half, but the fans in Eden did not see any more goals, even though the referee set five extra minutes.
During the second half, the Sevilla team created several scoring opportunities, but not a single goal was scored. The score did not change until the 87th minute, when the visiting Martin Hála saw offside and capitalised on a great centre by captain Josef Jindřiška.
The Slavs then committed to a big final push, which resulted in a goal in the seventh minute. Ondřej Lingr got the ball into the net. The game went into extra time, which was decided by Václav Jurečka.

Jaroslav Köstl, assistant coach of Jindřich Trpišovský, commented on the match at the post-match press conference.
“First of all, I would like to highlight the match as such, there was a great atmosphere from the fans of both clubs. The match had pace, it was an advertisement for football with everything, it had to be liked even by an impartial spectator. I also appreciate Bohemka’s play, which did not get stuck, their breaks gave us problems,” said Köstl.
In the final of the MOL Cup, the fans of Czech football will see a derby between Prague’s “S”? What does Köstl have to say about this?
“We wouldn’t be angry even if the final was with Bohemka, this match had everything. But we are going to Sparta, it will be a match of the two best teams in the Czech Republic, we will play them fair, I believe we will prepare well. We have three more games with them before the end of the season, we hope we can manage all of them,” he concluded.
