Erik ten Hag is skating on very thin ice. He has only nine points from seven rounds and is only tenth in the Premier League, plus a Champions League defeat. According to Kevin Prince-Boateng, he’s not fit to coach Manchester United.

When Erik ten Hag came to Manchester United last year, he promised to bring order to the club. However, after a year and a quarter, his engagement has not been very successful so far.

It all started with a dispute with Cristiano Ronaldo, who was literally driven out of the club by the Dutch coach. At the beginning it looked like a good move when United caught a great streak of several wins in a row in January, but then the Red Devils ran out of breath.

And so far in the new season, it’s been a much bigger ordeal than expected. Out of seven games, the Hag has already had to suffer defeat four times, failing to beat Tottenham, Arsenal, Brighton and Crystal Palace. He also lost to Bayern in the Champions League.

On top of that, he got into an argument with another star player Jadon Sancho, whom he accused of having a bad attitude in training. The Englishman countered that this was definitely not true and he was tired of being the scapegoat all the time. On that account, the club has dropped him from the squad until he apologises to the coach.

“I think he has to go. What he did to Ronaldo and the other guys… He is not fit to coach Manchester United,” former Barcelona and AC Milan player Kevin Prince Boateng said on Rio Ferdinand’s ‘Vibe with five’ programme.

When asked what exactly he did wrong in his relationship with Ronaldo, Prince-Boateng had a clear answer. “Imagine you have a top scorer and then you kick him out. Going against the best player on the team? You don’t do that. You have to show him some respect,” the Ghanaian is clear.

And indeed, Ronaldo scored 18 goals in the Premier League the season before the hague and added six more in the Champions League. The Dutch coach might want to use those numbers even more now that the Red Devils have only seven goals in seven rounds, with only Fulham, Everton, Luton, Bournemouth, Burnley and Sheffield having scored fewer.
