A proper legend, probably the greatest ever in the Barcelona squad, is the now thirty-one-year-old goalkeeper Marc-Andre ter Stegen. He arrived in Catalonia in the summer of 2014 for just 12 million euros from Borussia Mönchengladbach.

It took him time to get between the three sticks at first, but for eight seasons he has been the clear number one. Now he has even reached the incredible milestone of 400 games played for the club.

The last one was added by the German international in the duel with Mallorca, which Barcelona won 1-0 and are currently 5 points behind leaders Real. However, the Royal club has one match to play.

Ter Stegen as the best goalkeeper in Barça history?

“It’s easy to describe him: along with Víctor Valdés, he is the best goalkeeper in Barça history. Noblesse, personality, courage, captain, leader – he represents it all.

There are many terms. He is arole model in the dressing room and on the pitch, an exemplary captain,” said coach Xavi after the game. Valdés is the record goalkeeper, having played 535 games for Barcelona.

Ter Stegen is currently a close second. That belongs to Andoni Zubizarreta, who has played 10 more games than him. He should easily surpass that by the end of the season.
