Tensions between Mbappé and Neymar? They say it’s nonsense. They have a good relationship, PSG coach is clear
Although both Mbappe and Neymar have both made fine starts to the season, their performances have been undermined by constant speculation regarding their relationship. Mbappe is believed to have considerable pulling power at the club after he turned down advances from Real Madrid to pen a bumper new contract worth in the region of €100million (£87.5m) per year to stay in Paris. Meanwhile, reports have claimed that PSG made active attempts to offload Neymar this summer. But Mbappe also tried to cool talk of a feud before the Juventus match this week. The Frenchman said: “This is the sixth year with Neymar. We have always had a relationship like this, based on respect, but sometimes with warmer and colder moments. It is the nature of our relationship. When you have two players with such a strong character, you have moments like that, but always with respect and in the interest of PSG.”
PSG played their first Champions League game this week and once again the relationship between the two stars of the French team came into question. Kylian Mbappé deprived his team of a goal when he headed a clear chance instead of passing to Neymar. Coach Christophe Galtier commented on the situation.
They beat Juventus 2-1, but instead of the result there was another issue. Namely, a situation in which Kylian Mbappé did not behave in a very team-like manner. He could have passed to Neymar, who would have been in a simple situation and added a third goal. But he didn’t and PSG might have regretted it later.
The media once again started talking about the cold relationship between the two stars. However, this is not news. There was even speculation in the summer that Mbappé was pressuring the club to sell Neymar.
However, both are still at the club and along with Lionel Messi, they are not only scoring points but also putting up great numbers. Neymar in particular has started the season in style and is exceeding all expectations. And the cool relationship with Mbappé? These have been previously refuted by the Frenchman himself, and now by coach Christophe Galtier.
“Their relationship is good, and I’m really not making it up. They are together in training and often warm up together,” the Mirror quotes Galtier as saying.
However, he also commented on the specific situation in the match. “Kylian maybe could have passed the ball but he had a difficult time. If you look at the video, it looks easy, but he had two seconds to make a decision and concentrate on the ball,” he defended his charge.
Galtier then believes Mbappé will pass to Neymar for many more goals. Likewise, he admitted that he didn’t feel any tension between the players after the Juventus game. He intended to concentrate mainly on Saturday’s game against Brest.
