Jakub Menšík, the young Czech tennis player, is enjoying a successful end to 2022. The 17-year-old talent from Prostejov has enjoyed a total of four championships on the ITF circuit this year – and three of them in the last three weeks. He celebrated a small “golden hat-trick” in Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, where he managed to give his opponent a canary in the final.

His first success of the season came at the Junior Australian Open in January, where he reached the final. There he suffered from thigh muscle cramps and eventually succumbed to American Bruno Kuzuhar after 6:7, 7:6, and 5:7 sets.

Mencius had to wait until the beginning of September for the winner’s trophy. On clay in Allershausen, Germany, which hosted the ITF M15 event, he defeated the home player in the final. He defeated Peter Heller, 30, 7::5, 3::6 and 6::1.

He went on to make two quarter-final appearances in domestic tournaments on the same, less watched tennis circuit. In Pardubice he was outclassed by the Brit Felix Gill, in his native Prostejov by his compatriot Andrew Paulson.

First of all, however, it is necessary to mention Menšík’s performances at the last events. The Greek Heraklion was the venue of the ITF M25 level event.

20. the final clash took place on the local hard surface on November, in which the current member of the fifth hundred of the ATP ranking won against the Ukrainian Oleksandr Ovcharenko 6::4 and 7::6.

Subsequently, the tennis player born on 1 September 2005 moved from the island of Crete across the sea to the Sinai Peninsula, specifically to the city of Sharm el-Sheikh. There he again reached the decider, leaving as champion again after two sets. He defeated Georgian Sabu Purtseladze 6: 4 and 6: 2.

Jakub Mensik spent the next week in the same place, on identical, i.e. hard, courts and again at an ITF M15 event. And one more thing remained unchanged – the Czech youngster played the final again.

He passed Bielinski from Ukraine, Pennaforti from Italy, Elsayed from Egypt and Krainer from Austria. The fight for the title with Latvian Robert Strombachs was quite clear. Menshik won his second Egyptian title in a row on Sunday 4 December after 6::4 and 6::0 sets.

This year’s four-time ITF tournament winner is currently ranked 478th, while according to the ATP Live Rankings he should move up to 449th in the new edition of the singles world rankings.
