Several Czechs at the tournament in France
Several Czechs played the Challenger in Mouilleron Le Captif with a prize money of 67,960 euros. In the last qualifying round, David Poljak (432nd) challenged the home team’s Enzo Wallart (618th).After a bad first set, the 26-year-old Czech managed to turn the match around and gave his opponent a canary in the deciding set. In the first round he will face Dutchman Jelle Sels (173rd).
Tomáš Macháč (110th) started his match in the main phase. The native of Beroun had to play three sets with Russian Alexey Vatutin (268th). In the first set Machac had to turn the tide when he was one break behind. He managed to do that and in the eleventh game he managed to break his opponent’s serve for the second time – 7::5.
In the second set, however, the Czech player was not very successful, in the fourth game his opponent broke and then Vatutin was happy for the second time in the important eighth game – 2::6. But in the deciding set Machac gave his opponent no chance, converted two breaks and won 6::3.
His next opponent in the next round will be Arthur Cazaux (286th), who defeated Jonáš Forejtek (230th) in the first round of the tournament. The latter is not having a good season at all and he confirmed his bad form in France. Both sets were evenly matched, the first was decided by tiebreak and in the second one, after a tug of war, the home player was happy again, winning 2: 0 on sets.
