Cristiano Ronaldo is a free agent after his stint at Manchester United. His end was quite ugly, he took a good swipe at several members of the club in an interview and now coach Erik ten Hag has come out with a statement.
Cristiano Ronaldo has chosen a rather bitter end at Manchester United. After his dissatisfaction with the deployment, he decided to give a big interview to Pierce Morgan, where he certainly didn’t mince words.
The club took their time and subsequently decided to agree a contract termination with the Portuguese. Now everyone knows that this move for the good of all should have come sooner.
Coach Erik ten Hag commented on the player
“We are moving on. We want a new future for Man Utd and Ronaldo did not want to be part of it,” he said in a wide-ranging interview with the MEN.
“I wanted Ronaldo to stay from the first moment until now. He wanted to leave – but he never said anything to me before the interview,” added the experienced coach, who joined United in the summer.
Even then, there was speculation about Ronaldo’s demise. He told the coach in the summer that he would let him know in a week if he wanted to stay and in the end he decided to stay.
However, especially at the end of the autumn, it was already clear what was going to happen. The interview added the crown to it and Ronaldo will be able to look for a new employer after the World Cup.
“After the interview it was very clear that Cristiano Ronaldo had to leave, we didn’t have to discuss it.
When he was in good form, he was a quality player who could help us achieve our goals. Of course he wasn’t,” finished the Hag.
