Ten Hag before Bayern: We can beat anyone. We can’t play well at Old Trafford
Manchester United have a crucial game coming up. It is one foot out of the Champions League and if it does not score against Bayern, it may not play in the European Cups at all. But Erik ten Hag believes in his team.

Manchester United’s season is not going well. In the Premier League it is still not that bad, sixth place is actually still a miracle after dull performances. But it’s much worse in the Champions League.
First the Red Devils lost in Munich, then they couldn’t even beat Galatasaray at home. Then they snatched a win against Copenhagen, with Onana saving the tie with a last minute penalty. But that was United’s only bright moment in the Champions League.
After that, they were 2-0 up and 3-2 up at Copenhagen, but even that wasn’t enough and they lost 3-4. Within ten minutes the home side equalised at 3-3.
At the moment Manchester United is in the last place of the table with 4 points. Galatasaray and Copenhagen both have 5 points, Bayern are already assured of promotion from first place with 13 points.
If the Red Devils lose to Bayern, they are out of Europe and will only play domestic competitions in the spring. If there is a draw, United must hope for a Galatasaray win and have a better score than Copenhagen, then they would at least play Europa League.
If Erik ten Hag’s charges want to qualify, they must win unconditionally and hope for a draw in the concurrently played duel.
Old Trafford’s (un)fortress
“We are capable of beating any opponent. Tomorrow we have to win and we can do it. The games against Chelsea and Everton, but also against Galatasaray were at a high level. I’m sure we are very good,” ten Hag was full of positivity at the press conference.
“It is not easy to play at Old Trafford. As long as I’m here, we stick together. We have to give them energy,” the Dutch coach urged.
Those words might have had a different ring to them if Manchester United hadn’t lost 0-3 to Bournemouth at Old Trafford at the weekend. Bayern, on the other hand, are not in the best of moods either, having been beaten by Frankfurt.
