The talented Czech goalkeeper is heading to Northern Ireland’s top football competition. The 20-year-old Manchester United player arrives on loan with the clear aim of trying to save Portadown in League One.

Ondrej Mastny transferred to Manchester United in 2018 from Jihlava. The young goalkeeper subsequently played for the Red Devils’ youth teams and is now heading out on loan for the first time.

The 20-year-old talented footballer has gone on a six-month loan to Northern Ireland Premier League side Portadown, where he will try to stay in the top flight.

In fact, Portadown are hopelessly last after twenty-five games, having gained just five points. Penultimate placed Dungannon have won 17, so he is not going to have an easy time in goal for his new team.

The club from the Armagh town have even scored 65 goals, losing 1-6 in their last game against third placed Linfield.

From the player’s and Manchester United’s point of view, this is a really interesting move and the question is whether this engagement can help the player at all.

However, if he does get on the pitch, he will definitely catch on. After all, he hasn’t been getting that much space on the pitch in Manchester lately.

We could see his Czech colleague Radek Vitek in goal more often, who is a year younger and joined the club in 2020 from Sigma Olomouc.
