Swiatek has won 28 matches in a row, yet she is far from the top 10 longest winning streak. Navratilova is the clear leader
Iga Swiatek proves that she is rightfully the world’s number one. She is winning match after match and her current streak stands at 28 wins in a row. This is one of the best performances since 2000, but she does not even fit into the top ten in tennis history, where Martina Navratilova reigns supreme.
Iga Swiatek proves that she is rightfully the world’s number one. She is winning match after match and her current streak stands at 28 wins in a row. This is one of the best performances since 2000, but she does not even fit into the top ten in tennis history, where Martina Navratilova reigns supreme.
She is only 20 years old, yet she is already the world number one and has been delivering balanced performances as an experienced matador. Iga Swiatek has already accumulated 28 wins in a row. She has surpassed the fourth best record of this century.
At 27 wins, the streak of the legendary Serena Williams, who was so successful in 2014 and 2015, has stopped. The absolute record holder in this century is her older sister Venus Williams with 35 wins in a row during 2000.
However, Serena also holds the second place in the ranking with 34 wins in 2013, while the third position belongs to Justine Henin, who won 32 matches in a row between 2007 and 2008.
However, if we look back in history, even before 2000, we find that neither of the aforementioned streaks is in the top ten. Martina Navratilova, who achieved this streak in 1982, rounds out the list with 41 wins.
Navratilova is the one who is the king of this statistic. Firstly, she holds the absolute record with an unbelievable 74 wins in a row, which she did in 1984, but she has also been in the top ten longest streaks four times, holding the third and sixth position.
Her biggest competitor in winning streaks has been Stefanie Graf, who has been in the top ten three times, holding second, seventh and eighth place. Her best years in this regard were 1989 and 1990, when she won 66 matches in a row.
