On Tuesday, it’s a straight fight to stay in Group B of the Nations League. Sweden will welcome Slovenia on home soil and the home team must win. What to expect from the match and what to bet on?
Sweden are not doing well in the Nations League so far, they are in last place before the last round, even the Slovenians are better off. The Swedes need to beat their opponents in front of their home fans to save themselves.
Slovenia, on the other hand, jumped to the penultimate place after their win over Norway. This puts them in a comfortable situation where they don’t have to win and still be guaranteed promotion. If they lose, they will be relegated.
The home team is led by Emil Forsberg, who scored one goal and had two assists for Leipzig in Germany. Alexander Isak, the fast-footed striker, has netted three times so far, although he is getting used to the Premier League.
The mainstay of the visitors is Atlético Madrid goalkeeper Jan Oblak, who has been among the best in Europe for several years. Central midfielder Miha Zajc plays for Fenerbahce Istanbul in Turkey and has scored and assisted once this season.
The Swedes rely on a solid defence at home. They have scored more than once in only one of their last twelve home games, and have even come away with zero goals six times. Part of their streak includes a win over the Spaniards.
Moreover, Slovenia have struck only twice in their last four away games, conceding a goal on two occasions.
Considering the Swedes’ home defensive form and the fact that the Slovenians don’t have a world-class offensive threat, I think the Swedes will win and save themselves. The more adventurous ones can bet on a clean sheet win.
