Real Madrid won their Champions League semi-final rematch, beating Bayern Munich 2-1 at home. They were still trailing until the 88th minute, but then two goals were scored by the joker Joselu. Real Madrid will take on Borussia Dortmund in the final.
The first chance came in the sixth minute, but Dani Carvajal’s shot just flew into the Bayern net. On the other side, Serge Gnabry took a similar centre, but Harry Kane was unable to reach the ball.
Manuel Neuer’s first saves were tough, twice clearing chances for Real Madrid’s Brazilians. First, he pulled a shot from Vinícius to the left post, then Rodrygo failed from the rebound, or Neuer flashed in a false chance.
On the other side, Andriy Lunin pulled out a long-range shot from striker Kane. The festival of saves continued thanks to Neuer who, in the 40th minute, fingertipped a corner kick and deflected it to the back post.
The threat continued to come from distance only, with Lunin this time catching Noussair Mazraoui’s attempt firmly. After interesting chances on both sides, the game was scoreless.
After the change of sides, Vinícius was very active, but his centre from the 55th minute was not punished by Rodrygo. Neuer shone for the next five minutes, first parrying a Rodrygo direct kick, then a Vinícius attempt.
And so the classic: “Can’t you? You’ll get it!”. Inside the box, a weak right-footed shot from Alphonso Davies hit the back post. In the 72nd minute, the home side equalised, but their joy didn’t last long.
Nacho Fernandez fouled before the goal, which the head referee discovered after watching the replay. In the 88th minute, Real scored in regulation, Joselu striking after a mistake by Neuer. And in the second set minute, the same player turned the tide.
After that, Real Madrid managed the setup and will challenge Borussia Dortmund in the final.
