January 31 was the last day of transfers in the football world and several interesting last minute transfers took place. Let’s recap them all.
Delle Alli – Tottenham -> Everton
Still only 25-years-old midfielder, but he’s stagnating a lot. His career peak was around 20-21 years old, since then he has gone down a lot. Can he kick-start a fading career at Everton? According to Transfermarkt, he left London for Liverpool for free.
Donny van de Beek – Manchester United -> Everton
Donny is finally free, one would like to say. The Dutch midfielder has hardly played at all at United, so a guest appearance at Everton is a liberation for him. With him and Alli, the Toffees have gained a big force in the centre of midfield that new coach Frank Lampard will have to get right.
Dejan Kulusevski – Juventus -> Tottenham
A big Swedish talent, but one who has stuck around at Juventus this season and so has made a change of scenery. Tottenham have acquired him on a one-and-a-half year loan deal for which they will pay €10 million. In case of certain starts in the Champions League, the mandatory option is set at 35 million euros.
Rodrigo Bentancur – Juventus -> Tottenham
Kulusevski is not alone in moving from Turin to London. Along with him, 24-year-old Uruguayan midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur will also be joining Spurs. Conte brought him to his team for €19 million.
Giovani Lo Celso – Tottenham -> Villarreal
Arrivals at Tottenham had to be duly followed by departures. Thus, 25-year-old Argentine Giovani Lo Celso leaves to Villarreal on loan.
Tanguy Ndombélé – Tottenham -> Olympique Lyon
Antonio Conte continues to rebuild Tottenham to his liking. He got rid of another unwanted midfielder, with Ndombélé going to Lyon on loan. The guest appearance costs 1.4 million euros, the optional option is set at 65 million euros.
Bryan Gil – Tottenham -> Valencia
A lot of work for all Tottenham staff on the last day of transfers. The 20-year-old Bryan Gil, who recently arrived from Sevilla and hasn’t made much of a name for himself in London, is going on loan to Valencia.
Wout Weghorst – Wolfsburg -> Burnley
Newcastle bought out Burnley’s 191cm tall striker Wood, so the small club reacted accordingly. They brought in the 197cm tall Weghorst from Wolfsburg for €14 million.
Bruno Guimarães – Olympique Lyon -> Newcastle
Newcastle have plenty of money thanks to the new owners and the other clubs know it well, that’s why they are shooting up the prices of their players. The 24-year-old Brazilian defensive midfielder is thus moving to the Premier League for €42 million.
Matt Target – Aston Villa -> Newcastle
Another signing for the Magpies. The 26-year-old Aston Villa left-back comes to Newcastle on loan.
Denis Zakaria – Borussia Mönchengladbach -> Juventus
An interesting signing for Juventus. For a very good price (€8m) they bought 25-year-old defensive midfielder Denis Zakaria from Mönchengladbach.
