Suárez moves to Inter Miami
Luis Suárez’s career is interesting. In 2006, he moved from Nacional to Europe, specifically to Groningen, who fired him to Ajax Amsterdam within one season. After three and a half seasons, his outstanding performances earned him a loan deal at Liverpool and he soon began to rank among the best strikers in the world.
Suárez scored goal after goal and was bought out by Barcelona as a result. He spent six wonderful seasons there, but you can’t stop age, and also due to financial difficulties he moved to Atlético Madrid. After two years, his contract expired and he finally said goodbye to Europe.
He returned to Nacional, from where he headed to Grémia after a year. In Brazil, he showed that he was not an old hand and when his contract expired, he went to MLS, specifically to Inter Miami, where he has clear goals.
“Football is always about challenges… inter Miami has allowed me to dream of winning the MLS, something this club has never done before,” Suárez said at a press conference.
Meeting with former teammates
Coming to Inter has another reason, and that is the renewal of the collaboration from Barcelona. His former strike partner Lionel Messi, but also Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba are in Miami.
“The fact that we are meeting again says a lot about the friendship that exists between us, about how well we know each other on the pitch. And we have to try to enjoy it and want to win, which is our DNA,” he added.
But Suárez would like to continue playing for the Uruguay national team even at an advanced age. But he wants to earn the nomination through his performances, not his name.
“In November, I got the start I deserved, thanks to good games in the Brazilian league. Now it will be the same, it depends on how I am physically and how I play. I want the coach to see that I can contribute to the team. If I play, it will be because of my performance and not because of the name I have,” he finished.
