In the opening quarter-final clash between Feyenoord and Slavia, there were several heated situations. The home team could not bear the end of the first half, after which they felt very unjust. It all culminated in a big melée, in which even the head coach of Slavia, Jindřich Trpišovský, got involved.

It all started just before the half-time break. Slavia equalised in the 41st minute after a goal by Peter Olayinka, but the goal should not have stood due to offside. This made the whole skokopek (Feyenoord stadium), including the players and the management team, angry.

Before half-time, Feyenoord players demanded two more penalties, but the Turkish referee did not call a penalty kick, and it is necessary to point out that these were the right decisions.

Well, that was just too much for the home team, after the half-time whistle an exchange between Peter Olayinka and a member of Feyenoord’s management team started, Ivan Schranz got involved a little bit more and then several Feyenoord players, led by goalkeeper Ofir Marciano.

And then suddenly a tank named Jindřich Trpišovský came flying into the whole melee! The eternally calm strategist commented after the game as a protective measure to prevent an unnecessary red card for his charges.

So from his words it looks like a strategic solution, but at that moment I’m sure the Slavie coach was a bit emotional. See for yourself!

Whatever Trpišovský’s intention was, it worked. Peter Olayinka walked away from the whole skirmish with only a yellow card, Feyenoord goalkeeper Marcian saw the same colour of card, only the aggressor from the Dutch bench got a red card. The coach of Slavia escaped the mela without a card.

In the second half, the fans were treated to 4 more goals and watched some very good football from both sides.

Coach Jindřich Trpišovský took the final result 3:3 after the match, even though he was well aware that Slavia could have easily won in the Netherlands.
