At the end of March, the experienced coach František Straka came to the bench of the Slovak Trenčín, who was supposed to save the first league after a series of unflattering results. And now he has succeeded, as his team won for the second time in a row.
After the end in football Třinec he was looking for a job for a long time. František Straka, who is now sixty-four years old, worked more as a television expert, but in March he embarked on an interesting trip to Slovakia.
His goal was to save Trenčín, who had sacked Marian Zimen. At the time of his arrival, the two-time Slovakian champion was second to last, but Straka succeeded and can be quite calm in the last round.
In the league, he won four out of seven matches, drew twice and tasted the taste of defeat once. The game against ViOn Zlaté Moravce – Vráble was decided by Straka’s team, which won 2:1.
However, it was far from calm. Moravec’s goal was scored in the 13th minute by Roman Čerepkai, who is visiting Slovakia from Teplice. The equaliser came in the 45th minute.
Nigerian striker Philip Azango scored and his goal was followed in the 63rd minute by his 21-year-old compatriot Chinonso Emeka.
In the end, the referee had to award three yellow cards to each side for unsporting behaviour and the visitors celebrated their rescue. In contrast, the home side must win their next game against Michalovce or go into the barrage.
“I came in a difficult situation and I am very happy that we managed to do it. It’s not just my merit, but mainly the merit of the guys on the field,” said Straka in a post-match interview.
He also confirmed that his charges will get a tartar as a reward, which has always been associated with the career of the Czech coach.
