The tale continues. Stefanos Tsitsipas meets an opponent he certainly didn’t expect in the quarterfinals of the Australian Open. He will be challenged by this year’s sensation Jiri Lehecka. What to expect from the match and what to bet on?
As expected, Stefanos Tsitsipas has made it to the quarterfinals of the Australian Open, going through the tournament without any problems until his last match. However, he was tested in the eighth round by Jannik Sinner, with whom the number four seed fought a four-hour, five-set battle.
Jiri Lehecka is the sensation of this year’s traditional Grand Slam season opener. The twenty-one-year-old Czech has never won a Grand Slam match, but in Melbourne he has taken on Cioric (23rd), Eubanks (116th), Norrie (12th) and Auger-Aliassime (7th).
So it cannot be said that Lehecka had an easy and clear path. After all, he only won the first match 3:0 in sets, in the remaining matches he got nothing for free and earned the quarterfinals hard.
But it is hardly possible to predict who will win the match. One can understand why Tsitsipas is such a big favourite. But Lehecka showed that he is a huge fighter and that he can face even the best.
Experience plays in the Greek’s favor. He hasn’t lost yet this year. However, it’s not worth the low odds to bet on him to win.
What can pay off, however, is a bet on the number of sets. Lehecka will certainly not be cheap, he will play at least a set even if he were to lose.
The odds of seeing four or more sets in the match are set at an attractive 1.80, which is undoubtedly worth a try.
