Stefanos Tsitsipas is currently ranked fifth in the ATP rankings with 7,500 points. If he were to win Tuesday’s match, he would move into fourth place ahead of Dominic Thiem.
The 22-year-old Greek tennis player is currently in great form, having won his last eight matches. At the French Open, the second Grand Slam of the season, he took on Chardy, Martinez, Isner and Carreno-Busta, losing just one set.
His quarterfinal opponent will be Daniil Medvedev. The 25-year-old Russian-born tennis player is currently ranked second with 9,793 points. Only Novak Djokovic is better.
Medvedev managed to beat Alexander Bublik, Tommy Paul, Reilly Opelka and Cristian Garin at the French Open. He was firmly in control of all his matches, as he did not allow his opponent to take a single set on three occasions.
So what to bet on? Although the Russian player is better in the rankings, Tsitsipas is the paper favourite for Tuesday’s contest. One of the reasons for that is the fact that in the past years the Moscow native has not experienced even once the taste of victory at the French Open.
The Philippe-Chatrier court will see the eighth meeting between these rivals. Six times Medvedev has been victorious, but now this statistic should be somewhat equal.
