AC Milan have plans to strengthen a lot in the upcoming summer transfer window. Evidence of this is the new goalkeeper duo or the very promising looking negotiations with Frankfurt and Chelsea. Moreover, Rossoneri coach Stefano Pioli has now revealed the name of the summer priorities towards the attack.
According to the famous Italian newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, AC Milan coach Stefano Pioli has revealed the name of the summer transfer priority towards the attack.
As reported by Football Italia, information from Thursday’s print edition speaks of coach Pioli expecting and demanding reinforcements for players who are ready to leave. Indeed, AC no longer counts on the pair Ante Rebic – Divock Origi, and the departure of Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also expected.
So who is the aforementioned priority according to the well-known daily? Milan would welcome Loïs Openda, who currently plays for French club RC Lens, to the San Siro in preparation for the new league season and the Champions League.
But AC is not the only club interested in his services. Atlético Madrid and RB Leipzig have also made contact with the 23-year-old Belgian forward.
Key aspect on behalf of Openda
Openda has a contract with his current club until the end of June 2027. However, should the Rossoneri fail to make a move for the Belgian striker, they still have Gianluca Scamazza from West Ham and Álvaro Morata from Atlético in their sights.
The native of Liege was one of the cornerstones of RC Lens in the 2022/23 league season, which saw them climb to second place in Ligue 1. Openda netted 20 goals in 37 games and assisted 3 more.
Milan, as they have announced recently, intend to strengthen quite a bit and a new player to join Olivier Giroud in attack is simply more than the order of the day. The first summer reinforcement for AC is Marco Sportiello from Atalanta Bergamo, who is expected to fill the role of goalkeeper.
Meanwhile, the Rossoneri continue negotiations with Chelsea for Ruben Loftus-Cheek, while Daichi Kamada is expected to undergo a medical in the coming days. This potential free transfer is looking very good at the moment.
