After the weekend, the league merry-go-round will come to a halt again for a while, as the national break returns. Coach Šilhavy’s team will play the remaining matches of the Nations League.
They will play Portugal at home on 24 September and Switzerland away three days later. The Czech coach has already made his nomination and then answered questions from journalists.
“We have very difficult but also attractive matches ahead of us. The fact that the match against Portugal is almost sold out long in advance is an indication of that. To stay among the best would be a great success for us, for which every member of the team will do their best,” said Šilhavý.
The Czechs are currently in third place, having beaten the Swiss and drawn with the Spanish. However, the fourth-placed Swiss have three points for their win over Portugal, so everything is still open.
There are 20 players in the current squad, with three more names to be added on Monday. Petr Ševčík, Jiří Pavlenka and Patrik Schick, who were absent due to health problems, return.
“We are happy to have all three back. They have proven in the past that we can rely on them. Unfortunately, some other players are missing again.
We’ll see how the health of Michal Sadilek or Tomas Holes will develop, who are only among the substitutes for now, but there is still less than a week until the start of the reunion,” the coach added.
