For the first time in his NHL career, Steven Stamkos scored 4 goals in a game in Edmonton. Nathan MacKinnon rounded out his NHL regular season point total with 800 points in Colorado’s home win over Buffalo.

Stamkos had a blast, Edmonton took it

The Edmonton Oilers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning (4:7) featured a shootout and a great performance by the visiting goalie. The Oilers winning streak ended, with Connor McDavid playing a big part.

This time he had to bow to the performance of the Ligtning players. He did his best in the game scoring a goal and an assist and scoring for the 11th consecutive game. He scored his 40th point of the season and jumped to the 4th place in the competition.

However, Tampa’s goalie Andrei Vasilevskiy was up against it, catching the puck out of the net four times but stopping 53 shots! He was deservedly named the star of the night. Nikita Kucherov once again had a three-point night for a goal and two assists, and became the first player this season to reach the 50-point mark in a season, solidifying his top position in scoring.

Tampa Bay captain Steven Stamkos literally exploded shooting wise, scoring 4 goals in a game for the first time in his career! He’s 33 years old. And the 1031st game played in the regular season. He’s now on pace for 529 goals.

This born goal scorer has recorded his 12th career hat trick. He’s even broken the 60-goal mark for the season. But he hasn’t accomplished that feat in his career yet. In any other game, he would have been the star of the night, but that honour went to a fellow goalkeeper who made all the saves and caught a flurry of shots.

To make matters worse, the Canadian hockey player became the 20th player in NHL history to break the 200-goal mark on the power play. It was indeed a very good night for the whole Tampa Bay team, which was decorated with great individual performances.

Nathan MacKinnon on pace for 800 points in the regular season

In the Colorado Avalanche vs. Buffalo Sabres (5:1), the duo of Mikko Rantanen and Nathan MacKinnon once again excelled. The former had another three-point game with 1 goal and 2 assists, while MacKinnon had even more reason to be happy.

He didn’t score a goal, but he had 2 assists and rounded up his NHL point total to 800 points. He scored a total of 294 goals and recorded 506 assists. In addition, he did it in 738 games played. This is a great feat, as he is only the fifth player in Colorado Avalanche/Quebec Nordiques history to reach this mark.

In addition, MacKinnon extended his point streak to 13 straight games in which he has collected 21 points on six goals and 15 assists. And his point streak on home ice is even longer, which is already 15 games in which he has nearly 2 points per game for 28 points.
