Is Eden Hazard’s nightmare coming to an end? According to the latest reports, he is set to join Al-Nassr. The coach of the Arab club was even supposed to visit a Real Madrid training session and bring Hazard a present.
The transfer to Real Madrid was supposed to be a dream come true for Hazard. Instead, his engagement turned into a nightmare from the very beginning and eventually resulted in perhaps the worst transfer in the history of the White Ballet.
If we added up all the possible bonuses, the transfer price would have climbed to an astronomical €150 million. Although Hazard won the title twice in Madrid and could have enjoyed the Champions League, his contribution to all the trophies won was zero.
During his four-year tenure, he played only 73 games and scored seven goals. The various injuries that have accompanied Eden pretty much since the start of his time at the Royal Club are hugely to blame for the unsuccessful engagement.
Even with their culpability, he has never been able to secure a regular place in the line-up and is perhaps the last resort in Carlo Ancelotti’s hierarchy of substitutions at the moment. The last time he played over an hour was in a cup game, against a team from the fourth Spanish league, in which he completely burnt out.
Is a move for Cristiano Ronaldo imminent?
Over the last few days, reports have emerged linking Hazard with a move to Arab club Al-Nassr, who recently recruited star Cristiano Ronaldo to their ranks. The Arab club has big plans and ambitions. There is speculation about interest in Sergio Ramos, among others.
Real Madrid are currently in Saudi Arabia, where yesterday they celebrated their progress to the final of the Spanish Super Cup. The Spanish big club is training at the Al-Nassr premises, which was taken advantage of by the club’s coach who visited the training session. He was even captured handing Eden Hazard the home team’s jersey.
The Belgian clearly declared several times that he is happy in Madrid and wants to keep his contract. However, the question is how long he will enjoy sitting on the bench. Could the handover of the jersey mark Hazard’s impending move to Saudi Arabia?
