Spartan-Slavic national team: unprecedentedly high percentage, only eight players with no past in Prague clubs
Against Switzerland, one current or former Slav or Spartan player after another ran around the pitch in the Czech national team jersey, and the percentage is even higher after the transfers of Václav Jurečka and Jaroslav Zelený. How many of the current national team players have a history in the best Czech clubs?

The original three goalkeepers have a history in “Prague S”. Tomáš Vaclík shone in the jersey of Sparta, Jindřich Staněk grew up at Letná, Jiří Pavlenka won the title for Slavia. Ales Mandous, currently a player for Slavia, was also nominated.
It is similar among the defenders. Two of the eight nominees have been part of Slavia’s great successes in Europe and in the league (David Zima, Vladimír Coufal), as well as Ondřej Kúdela, Jakub Brabec shone during Sparta’s Europa League journey, Jaroslav Zelený is a fresh reinforcement of Letná, he also played for Slavia.
In the midfield the percentage of Spartans and Slavs is even higher, Jakub Jankto grew up with the Susians, Tomáš Souček became a modern legend of the club, Ondřej Lingr has a breakthrough season under Jindřich Trpišovský.
Ladislav Krejci Jr. and Jakub Pešek are an integral part of Sparta’s lineup, while the surprisingly donominated Alex Kral shone in midfield as Slavia progressed through Genk and Sevilla.
In attack, as well as in goal, it’s 100%, Jan Kuchta started his national team career at Slavia, Adam Hložek at Sparta and Václav Jurečka is a fresh reinforcement of the Vršovice team.
In total, eighteen of the twenty-six players at the June meeting came through Slavia or Sparta. Something unthinkable three years ago is now a reality.
