Sparta moves on in the Champions League! Monaco awaits in the next round
Sparta advances to the third round of the Champions League. They beat Rapid Vienna 2:0 at home and secured the Europa League group stage. We will see at least two Czech clubs in the autumn part of the European Cups.

Tomas Wiesner had the first chance of the match in the second minute, but only hit the centre of the goal. An active Sparta were awarded a penalty kick in the fifteenth minute after a foul on Jakub Pesek.
David Moberg Karlsson took the ball and converted it with a shot to the right post. The home side continued to control the game, basically not letting Rapid do anything in the first half.
Pešek could have scored the opening goal in the 42nd minute, but he headed over. The score was 1:0.
In the second half, the first chance was waited for until the 65th minute, when Adam Hložek hit the crossbar. Karlsson tried a volley but missed the goal. In the 81st minute, he could have rejoiced.
Ladislav Krejčí Sr.’s centre found Pešek and he shot towards the back post, giving the goalkeeper no chance. Dejan Petrovic could have reduced the deficit in the 85th minute, but he only beat Florin Nita with a chance.
Pešek could have sealed the victory in the fourth minute of the setup, but he failed in the shootout. He did not have to regret it, however, as no more goals were scored and Sparta went on to win 2:0 in the Champions League.
