Sparta did not make it through Tuesday’s Champions League second round match against Rapid Vienna, which was not borne by its fans. They tried to storm the pitch after the end of the match and injured one of the organisers.
The scenery for the second leg was great. Even before the opening whistle, there was so much noise in the stands that the reporters of Sport 1 (which broadcast the match for the Czech viewers) had to shout at each other to understand each other.
The home fans continued to support their players throughout the match and were a big part of Rapid’s 2-1 win.
There were also dozens of Sparta fans in the stadium, and several hundred in the away sector, and they were also audible, especially in the first half. However, after the end of the match they could not take the 1:2 defeat.
The Sparta fans decided to storm the pitch (they were probably enraged by the opponent’s thank you speech), which thanks to the work of the organisers they did not manage to do. Nevertheless, one of them was injured, which was reported by the Austrian press.
The Prague fans were originally not supposed to get into the Weststadion at all, but since Czechs living in Vienna had also bought tickets, the UEFA delegate moved all Sparta fans to the away section.
