Sparta as a bunch of desperate people? I miss Hložek, where are you, Borek? Sparta fans sharply criticize draw with Viking

Sparta Prague only drew 0:0 in the preliminary round of the Conference Europa League at Letná, although they had much more to gain from the game in terms of football. However, the Prague team is being massively criticized by its fans on social media, do you agree with some of the comments?

It was probably not a very ideal evening for a Prague Sparta fan. Yes, Sparta outshot their opponents, letting them do practically nothing and creating a lot of pressure in their territory.

Brian Priske’s charges got a few decent opportunities in the match. Whether it was Hanck’s attempt from the 30th minute or Tomas Cvančara’s dangerous header from the 75th minute that just missed the crossbar.

It should be noted that the Prague team was simply the favourite to win this match and one can understand some of the reactions of Sparta fans.

The Prague team should have won this match. As far as individual performances are concerned, the new forward Jan Kuchta did not perform any miracle, on the contrary Jan Fortelný played a great game. The defensive pair Jaroslav Zelený – Dávid Hancko created an impenetrable dam.

Still, Sparta fans left the game with a bitter feeling, as despite several solid first half chances, the home side did not show a dazzling efficiency.

Fans’ reactions

Under Sparta Prague’s twitter post, dozens of comments referring to the goalless draw with Stavanger gradually emerged. It should be added that some of them, even though it was Sparta’s first sharp game of the new season, showed a lot of frustration.

After clicking the attached post above, you can see the very first comment from Michal B., who misses Bořek Dočkal in the Sparta lineup. “Bořek, where are you?”.

And it wasn’t the only comment referring to Dočkal or any other playmaker. “The creator is missing (Matejovsky, Dočkal, even Kanga). And it should be switched up 2-3 gears, this is like the old guard. Disappointing,” said a fan under the nickname Majkl Majkl.

His opinion in another part of the comments is also supported by a fan with the nickname Kryštof – “I miss Adam Hložek.”

Most of the fans also criticised the low efficiency of the finishing and the low quality of the forward line. Lubos Loucky and a fan with the nickname “niCZEma” said the following. “There is simply a lack of quality and creativity up front.”

“And the crying coefficient. Really a bunch of desperate people.” Jiri Klindera also supported the idea that Sparta currently lack an ideal point guard. I am disappointed. No surprising solutions, no penetrating pass. Just cluelessness and slow transition to attack. It’s just not enough.”

“Shame. A great effort, unfortunately it lacked a better forecheck, or at least a chance, a volley, a shot from distance. After the last two substitutions, unfortunately, it fell apart, I don’t understand Kara’s withdrawal. Since then nobody has kicked a reasonable corner.,” Arsen sees the match clearly.

However, despite the wave of criticism, there were fans who also saw some positives in Sparta’s game. Fan Chenda, for example, said he saw huge progress in ball possession and fitness. On the other hand, he also adds that Sparta is currently lacking a playmaker.
