Carla Suarez-Navarrová played her last competitive match on 25 February 2020 against Petra Kvitova. A coronavirus pandemic followed and her battle with cancer began last September.
Of course, she hasn’t appeared on the tennis courts since then.
On Friday, she revealed on social media that she underwent successful treatment and is fine.
“Another step forward. Today I finished my treatment and overcame Hodgkin’s lymphoma,” said the winner of two singles tournaments.
“Thank you all for your kind messages. Every word of support has given me strength over the last few months. All my gratitude goes to the medical professionals who take care of us every day. I am healed,” Suarez-Navarro added.
And does the current 93rd WTA ranked player still plan to return to tennis? She said she would still like to play at the Summer Olympics in Tokyo, after which she would retire from her professional career.
