Although the 2022 FIFA World Cup, which will be held in Qatar, does not yet know all the participants, the draw for the groups was held on Friday evening. What interesting matches will the championship offer before the knockout battles?

Qatar will host the World Cup from 21 November to 18 December this year. It will be the first ever adult championship to be held in an Arab country.

However, it will also be the first world championship to be held outside the traditional dates between June and July due to the high temperatures. The tournament will involve 32 teams and will be played in eight stadiums in seven cities.

The participants have been divided into eight groups of four teams each. The top two teams will advance to the knockout stage.

The draw for the main groups

The main groups will be played in the first 12 days. The tournament will kick off with a match between home team Qatar and Ecuador.

The group schedule is as follows:

Group B is still waiting for the last team. Wales will play the winner of the match between Scotland and Ukraine for a place. Group D will be completed by Peru, Australia or the United Arab Emirates. Group E awaits the winner of the duel between New Zealand and Costa Rica.
