Southampton vs. Watford: Preview and betting tips
Watford will have one of their last chances to reverse their impending relegation on Sunday. They need to win at Southampton, but their current form doesn’t make that very likely. What to expect from the game?
Watford will have one of their last chances to reverse their impending relegation on Sunday. They need to win at Southampton, but their current form doesn’t make that very likely. What to expect from the game?
Southampton, after a glorious February, did not catch the start of March and lost their chances for the European Cups with two losses. From tenth place, they are already ten points behind sixth-placed West Ham, with ten rounds to go.
Watford have games when they look like a mid-table team, other times like a third division side. At the weekend they struggled (2: 3) against Arsenal, in the week they got a disgraceful four from Wolves. From second to last place, they are three points behind the relegation zone, but have three more games to play.
James Ward-Prowse shines in the home jersey, the national midfielder, offspring and captain of the team has scored six goals and assisted four. Scottish forward Che Adams has made seven saves and assisted twice.
Watford, on the other hand, are standing on Emmanuel Dennis, the summer signing from Bruges has scored nine league goals and assisted six times. Senegal’s AFCON winner Ismaila Sarr has split the net five times and assisted on one goal.
Southampton are doing well at home, winning four of their last six games here and earning a valuable 1-1 draw with Manchester City.
In addition, Watford have been on fire defensively all season and have scored at least three goals in three of the last four rounds.
Given the form of the visiting defence, I think Southampton will win and score at least two goals.
