Tomas Soucek has signed a contract extension with West Ham United. The captain of the Czech national team will continue to play for the English club until June 2027.
Tomas Soucek has signed a contract extension with West Ham United. The captain of the Czech national team will continue to play for the English club until June 2027.
Since his arrival at West Ham United, Tomas Soucek has been a very valid, even key player. The native of Havlíčkův Brod transferred to the Premier League club at the end of July 2020.
The Czech international signed a four-year contract at West Ham, with the London club sending 21 million euro to Slavia for him at the time. That makes him the most expensive player ever to head abroad.
Since then, Soucek has played 182 competitive games for the Hammers, scoring 30 goals and assisting nine more. He has significantly helped the traditional English club stay in the top flight in 2020.
He has several important goals to his credit, not only during the then rescue battles. We don’t have to go far for an example. Soucek decided the recent match against Arsenal, although his goal was due to the ball being behind the penalty line
The captain of the Czech national team agreed on a contract extension in the summer. However, West Ham have only now made the move official.
I’ve enjoyed every moment here, says Soucek
“It’s been four years since I came to West Ham United and I’ve enjoyed every moment. Coming to England was a new experience for me and we have been successful in the time I have been here,” Soucek said in an interview with the club’s website.
“We won the trophy, we had good results in the Premier League and I am happy with myself that I played almost every minute. I feel the fans appreciate me here,” he continued.
“That was one of the main reasons why I wanted to renew my contract with West Ham because I feel it is my home now and I want to achieve even more success with this great club in the future,” he concluded.
Apart from the fans, coach David Moyes is also happy with Soucek. He praised his qualities and described him as a model professional when signing his contract. So Soucek will spend at least until the end of June 2027 in London.
