Soucek really leaned on the referee: He was arrogant! A proper referee is not supposed to be seen, he wanted to be the man of the match

The Czech national football team has played its last match of the European Championship, in which it fell short against Turkey and is leaving the tournament after the group stage. After the match, captain Tomáš Souček was looking for good words for the referee, who, according to him, influenced the match.

The Czechs went into the tournament with a clear goal, which was to advance out of the group. However, the tournament did not turn out as expected and in the end it ranks among the worst in history.

Apart from the defeat against Turkey, the main problem is the draw with Georgia, where the team should have clearly scored full points. If that had been done, the current situation would probably be quite different.

But you don’t play on ifs and the Czechs needed to beat Turkey. And although they were better from the start, the exclusion of Antonin Barak complicated everything. Then came the goal, after which the game didn’t turn easily with ten men.

However, the Czech players complained about the performance of Romanian referee István Kovács, who also failed to award a red card to the opponent, thus tilting the match. Captain Tomáš Souček was also angry.

You can’t see the right referee, Souček is clear

“The referees at the Euro introduced a great thing, that they only wanted to talk to the captains, which is good. But the referee was so arrogant that he didn’t even want to talk to us. I dealt with the Turkish captain five minutes before the end.

The right referee is the one you can’t see. But this one wanted to be the man of the match, which is unfortunate. There’s an injustice there. But it’s not just about that. There were also a lot of situations that we didn’t handle well in our own and their penalty area,” said the scorer of the only Czech goal after the match.

He also complained that the whistle is blown differently in England. “I was surprised how different the decisions were. I’m quite used to the game being more relaxed and with more momentum. The referee allowed the Turkish player to go down and blow the whistle.

Then you are forced to go down as well. Maybe we got the red rightfully, but I think the Turks should have got it too. And not once. Kuchta’s goal was there too,” he added.
