At the post-tournament press conference, coach Jaroslav Šilhavy spoke to the journalists. And he commented on several interesting topics.
After losing the match against Denmark, Vladimir Darida announced that his national team career is over.
“We were very surprised by Vladimir Darida’s decision, the reasons were family ones, we have to respect his decision. His door is still open, he has a phone call for us,” said Šilhavy.
Because of his demise, it was necessary to decide who would replace him as captain. And the choice was not difficult, Tomáš Souček became the captain.
The coach then praised his team. The Czech footballers played an even game with everyone and fought until the last minute to reach the semi-finals.
“The boys deserve the recognition they get not only in our country. We gained a lot of respect, we fulfilled our goal of advancing from the group and we did not get lost among the strong teams. I am proud of the team. The team squeezed out even higher than it should have and could have,” he added.
